This portfolio is a graduation requirement for the completion of the Master of Science in Educational Technology program at Dakota State University.
By going back through my classes to complete this e-portfolio, I have come to realize that I have learned many things by completing the DSU's MSET program. My reflections of the program are listed below:
1. My decision to enter Dakota State's MSET program was a difficult one. There was no monetary help from my district and I was going through financial and personal problems at the time. However, in the Fall of 2006, I realized I was about half way through the required classes of the MSET graduation requirements through my participation in the DDN-IT program. This and the fact that I had topped out on the salary scale made my decision for me.
2. The networking classes I have taken have given me installation and troubleshooting knowledge about desktop units, servers, and wireless components that I would never have had otherwise. I can now handle 95% of the hardware problems that have occurred with my network.
3. The javascript programming class has made me more observant of how I well I type scripts/languages. I have had to learn about formatting and layout when setting up a webpage. I was not looking forward to this class, but now appreciate the information I learned.
4. The Instructional and Leadership classes I have taken have encouraged me to read more professional journals and articles dealing with technology. Before taking these classes, I always said I didn't have time to read these articles. Now, because of the MSET required class projects, I realize that reading current technology articles keeps me up-to-date on today's educational technology.
5. I think the best part of the MSET program is the many classmates I have met that have become friends and mentors.
